Virginia Mitchell, age 84, native of St. Louis, Mo and a resident of Merryville, La., died Thursday, April 26, 2012, at the Care Center Of DeQuincy in DeQuincy, La. She was a member of the Boxwood Church of Christ, Merryville, Louisiana. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved working in her garden. She loved to cook and some of her special dishes were cornbread dressing, pork roast and greens. She was a kind, gentle and compassionate woman with a servant's heart. She lived for her family and her life exemplified the Spirit of Christ, living her life by example.
She was the daughter of the late Robert Reininger and the late Grace (Sitton) Reininger.
She is survived by her three daughters, Carole Montgomery of DeQuincy, La., Janet Biven and husband, Stuart of Lake Charles, La., Connie Bertrand and husband Kirk of DeQuincy, La. ; three sons, Michael Mitchell and wife, Alla of Sulphur, La. Danny Mitchell and wife, Sheila of Kirbyville, Texas Raymond Mitchell and wife, Tammy of Ragley, La., seventeen grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband of 46 years - Olan Mitchell, One Sister - Margaret Hunter. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Christensen Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at Boxwood Church Of Christ at 2:00 PM Sunday, April 29, 2012 , Bro. Douglas Brackbill officiating. Interment will be at Bivens Cemetery in Bivens, La.
